Minds in Motion

Creating short narratives (with accompanying images,) centered on a specific aspect of a curriculum, is a dynamic way to tell a story about a student and his/her learning. This presentation will trace how information was mined from students who participated in paid internships related to their studies, and how that information was turned into short, ‘slice of learning’ narratives. The end results are web-worthy stories that, in this case, specifically connect learning in a classroom with how that learning is applied in a real-world setting. Using experiential learning as one curricular topic, this presentation will share ideas about identifying, preparing, and gathering relevant information from students to create strong ‘show don’t tell’ narratives. The presentation will also cover how to make it easy for colleagues (even non-writers!) to do the same.
